Government partnerships
Partnering to power
girls’ potential
Empowering adolescent girls is key to accelerating national development in African countries. For every $1 invested in a girl, according to the World Bank, her impact on her community and country grows tenfold, making girls a smart social investment choice.
Why girls’ health
Smart health systems
The triple threat of unintended pregnancy, HIV and sexual violence holds back millions of girls across sub-Saharan Africa. By investing in integrated, girl-centred health services that are rooted in existing systems, together we can unlock doors for girls today so that they achieve their dreams and aspirations tomorrow.
Investing in girls’ health is one of the single most impactful investments governments can make.

Stronger systems together
Maximising resources for lasting impact
Across Africa, Tiko is working in partnership with governments to deliver transformative programmes for girls that improve their health, and connect them to education and economic opportunities.
We help ministries and local authorities design and scale trusted health services that reach adolescent girls at community level. Through our digital platform and strong local partnerships, governments gain real-time data, performance insights, and operational support, ensuring public resources go further and impact lasts longer.

Scaling impact together
Leveraging existing public investment
Tiko’s model already harnesses significant public funding.

in services and supplies
We are expanding this through co-financing discussions with sub-national governments in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, as well as the national government in South Africa.
How we work
Balancing public and private health service delivery
In 2025, 23% of Tiko’s services were delivered through the public sector and 77% through the private sector. By 2030, we anticipate a major rebalancing with 62% delivered through the public sector. This shift reflects our focus on strengthening government capacity while reducing costs through fewer private-sector reimbursements.

Case study
Proven collaboration in action
In Nigeria, Tiko signed an MOU with Nasarawa State Government to scale up adolescent health and empowerment initiatives across the state. The partnership is led by the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NAPHDA) and supported by the Office of the Governor. Through the initiative, government leadership alongside Tiko’s technical expertise is tackling the triple threat of unintended pregnancy, HIV and sexual violence among adolescent girls. Through this collaboration, Tiko will strengthen state systems by training health workers, engaging local community organizations, and using real-time data to deliver inclusive, quality services for girls at no cost. The Nasarawa State Government has committed to providing family planning and HIV commodities. The initiative marks a major step toward government-led, sustainable solutions that ensure more girls in Nasarawa stay in school, access health services, and gain the tools to lead fulfilling and thriving lives. It builds on Tiko’s broader mission to transform the health and wellbeing of girls across Africa.
