Tiko’s work is guided by a set of integrated investment priorities that protect girls today while strengthening their resilience, opportunities and choices for the future. Here are seven ways to invest in Tiko’s work:
Protecting girls from the Triple Threat
Tiko works with donors to fund and scale our core model: to offer girls in sub-Saharan Africa integrated healthcare services that directly address unintended pregnancy, HIV and sexual and gender-based violence. These funders help to scale Tiko’s growing ecosystem of peer mobilisers, health providers and retailers.
Innovations in health technologies
Long-acting and self-administered health technologies—including injectable HIV prevention prophylaxis Lenacapavir (LEN) and self-injectable contraceptive methods—reduce adolescent girls’ need for frequent clinic visits while improving continuity of care. Funders can help Tiko scale service infrastructure of these health technologies and help pharmacies become trusted, girl-friendly access points for self-care products and services.
Tiko’s technology and AI platform
Tiko’s technology platform is a proven driver of girl-centred, data-driven health equity. Tiko is specifically seeking investment to build Tiko’s AI innovations, leveraging predictive analytics, large language models (LLMs), product identification, and biometrics to increase efficiency and personalisation.
Peer mobiliser network
The core of Tiko’s model lies in the strength of its network of peer mobilisers. Mobilisers reflect the girls they serve, and peer-led interventions consistently drive double-digit improvements in health adherence compared to standard models. Tiko partners with funders to expand and upskill the mobilisers into a thriving cadre of young health professionals who are increasingly playing more comprehensive roles in supporting girls.
Private sector health system
In Tiko’s ecosystem, girls have a choice between receiving healthcare in a public facility and a private clinic or pharmacy. Diverting care to the private sector can often ease the burden on an overstretched public sector, while offering greater privacy and flexibility. Tiko seeks investment to optimise a sustainable role for the private sector in filling gaps and expanding access to sexual and reproductive health services.
Corporate partnerships to create shared value
Through shared-value and CSR partnerships, corporates can reach new youth markets for health and wellness products through ethical marketing, behaviour change communication, and in-kind support, including sanitary pads and personal care products.
Girls’ education
Girls have big dreams for their futures. Tiko partners with livelihood and education-focused funders to support girls to return to school or pursue career goals through our health-first ecosystem approach. In other words, by first addressing sexual health issues, girls then have the headspace and freedom to consider their futures. Over time, this may mean that peer mobilisers are trained to link girls to educational and vocational opportunities offered by Tiko’s growing ecosystem of partners.
